Porto has long hot summers, perfect for a quick weekend escape to the close beaches, such as Matosinhos, Foz do Douro, or Póvoa de Varzim. However, winters are slightly colder than in other parts of Portugal, they are still mild when compared with other European countries. All the cold winter times can be easily warmed up with a glass of good wine and the friendly population that you will find in Porto.
