Finding properties in Alfama

We help you find what you're looking for

Considered the oldest neighbourhood of Lisbon, Alfama is one of the most attractive places to invest and live in the Portuguese capital. The location is famous for its cobblestones and narrow streets, dating from medieval times, but also for the magnificent viewpoints facing the Tejo river. As the whole region spreads on the hill slope between the São Jorge Castle and the Tagus river, the views there are quite amazing, making the neighbourhood a very attractive destination in Lisbon.

Around Alfama, you will find several public terraces (miradouros) from which you can have a good view of the city. One of the most famous is the Miradouro de Santa Luzia, near the church of the same name, taking place over remnants of the Moorish city walls. It is a fabulous postcard location, with a great view of the old city. As the region is one of the main tourist destinations in Lisbon, it became a great place for investments in commercial properties.

Here at Portugal Homes, we offer a range of profitable business opportunities in Lisbon, helping you with this important decision. No matter what your Lisbon real estate ambition may be, we have excellent deals for residential and commercial properties and property developments. Choosing Residency by Property Investment in Alfama

Alfama is mostly a residential neighbourhood, made up of a web of narrow curbstone streets, imponent churches, little squares, and several houses. But around the whole neighbourhood, you will find traditional Portuguese tascas, Fado houses, or even older residents selling a shot of ginja (a Portuguese cherry liqueur). As the location is very old, the residents have a strong sense of community, and it is very normal to see people outside their houses chatting with each other.

As said before, Alfama has a strong influence on Fado, the traditional Portuguese music. The Fado Houses can be found in all the zone and it is a huge touristic attraction. Living in Alfama can be a very pleasant experience, especially if you enjoy old towns, with amazing postcard views. Walking through those medieval streets up to the castle, and admiring the city along the way can become your every day while living in Alfama.
