In all, Portugal won 12 awards from the World Travel Awards. Amongst them the Best City Break Destination in the World for Lisbon and the Best Adventure Tourist Attraction for Passadiços do Paiva.
At the ceremony held in Muscat, Oman, Lisbon was once again highlighted. For the third year in a row, it was honored as the World's Best City Break Destination. In awarding the prize, the quality of the Portuguese capital's short-term stays was taken into consideration.
Boosting tourism has been the main driver of Lisbon's recognition at the World Travel Awards. "Rehabilitation projects such as the new Lisbon pier, [...] , are an example of how Lisbon continues to reinvent itself and innovate to continue to exceed the expectations of locals and those who visit us," says Paula Oliveira , Executive Director of the Lisbon Tourism Association.
